Wham! - Club Tropicana b/w Blue (Armed With Love) (1983)

"Club Tropicana" is a single by English pop duo Wham!, released on 22 July 1983 on Innervision Records. It was written by members George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.

"Club Tropicana" was written in 1981 in Ridgeley's living room, before the band or bandname had been fully established, and was the second Wham! song they came up with after the initial "Wham Rap!".
Although only half finished at the time of recording, it became one of the three home demos hastily made on a hired porta-studio which led to their first record contract with Innervision Records

The initial song inspiration came from their excitement over the glamour and escapism of the then burgeoning New Romantic club scene, and Michael, Ridgeley and Shirlie Holliman's occasional visits to one such club in London, Le Beat Route.
The song's lyrical theme was then expanded to also include the hedonism of summery Club 18-30 holidays, whilst musically fusing a Latin jazz rhythm with a groove inspired by the Gap Band's "Burn Rubber on Me".
The song was a mild departure from Wham!'s previous singles, which had all been motivated by social or political issues. "Club Tropicana", however, was a homage to the hedonistic London nightclubs that George and Andrew used to frequent in the early days of the band.

The B-side, "Blue (Armed with Love)", is a semi-instrumental dub track, which was cut once the Fantastic album was finished – Michael was involved as sole producer. Michael and Ridgeley spent the 11 hours they had available putting the track together, but it wasn't fully finished and ended up being released in its incomplete state as a B-side.

Gary's Gang - Knock Me Out (Vocal Version) b/w Knock Me Out (Acapella Version) (1982)

American funk/soul/R&B/disco group created by Joseph Tucci and Gary Turnier in the late 70s. They enjoyed chart success from 1978 to the mid 80s.

In the 1980s, Gary's Gang enjoyed U.S. and European success with the 1982 single "Knock Me Out" (#45 UK).
Brian Chin of Billboard described "Knock Me Out" as "midtempoed and very pop, it shares much of the soft-edged production styling and doowoppish vocals of the group's earlier work".

Mariska Veres - Lovin' You b/w You Showed Me How (1976)

Mariska Veres

Genesis - Paperlate b/w You Might Recall (1982)

"Paperlate" is a song by the British rock band Genesis from their second of two EPs. It peaked at No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart in mid-1982.
In the U.S., "Paperlate" was released as a standard single, backed by "You Might Recall". It was also featured on the U.S. version of the band's Three Sides Live album, of which all three tracks from the 3×3 EP are included on side four.

The title came from a line in the 1973 Genesis song "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" ("Paper late, cried a voice in the crowd"), which Genesis rehearsed at a soundcheck, leading to the conception of the song.
"Paperlate" is one of two Genesis songs that features the Earth, Wind & Fire horn section, the other being "No Reply at All", also from the Abacab sessions.
Collins has often hired the group for other projects, including his debut solo album, Face Value

Golden Earring - Quiet Eyes b/w Gimme A Break (1986)

Catapult - Disco Njet Wodka Da b/w Didn't Sleep A Week Last Night (1977)

Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger b/w Even In The Quietest Moments (1979)

"Goodbye Stranger" is a song by the English rock band Supertramp; it was written by Rick Davies
The song first appeared on their sixth studio album, Breakfast in America (1979). The lyrics present an "optimistic view from a drifter."
Billboard described "Goodbye Stranger" as "a fluid midtempo number highlighted by the band's near falsetto vocals, dominant keyboards and a strong melody line." Cash Box said it has "intriguing, well-paced vocals" from Rick Davies, and the "high backup singing" from Roger Hodgson and "blithe, spirited instrumentation."
Record World said that the "keyboard/guitar & chorus hook provide a blithe fairytale effect."Ultimate Classic Rock critic Nick DeRiso rated it as Supertramp's fourth-best song, calling it a "snarky kiss-off from Davies" that "showcases the band's predilection for the Wurlitzer."
Brett Milano of UDiscover Music rated Roger Hodgson's guitar solo at the end of the song as one of the 100 all-time greatest. Gary Graff of Billboard rated "Goodbye Stranger" as Supertramp's ninth best song, saying it's "one of the best executed trade-offs between Davies and Hodgson vocals" and has one of Supertramp's "hottest guitar solos."
